We are proud to anounce that the Hetzner Online AG has agreed to sponsor the sidux project with a dedicated root server for hosting the main web site sidux.com, together with our support forums, Wiki and the user gallery. The server is located in Hetzner's data centers in Nuernberg/Germany, with strong upstream connections to LambdaNet, Noris Network, Tiscali, DE-CIX, Cable & Wireless, KPN EuroRings and N-IX.

Yesterday evening a power supply failure destroyed a chain of routers at our data center in Duesseldorf (at IXEurope) and interrupted the connection to our own and several other servers. It unfortunately took several hours until we have been reachable again today in the morning. We are sorry for the inconvenience this might have caused for you, and thank you all for your patience!Posted by : slam on Monday, January 15, 2007 - 06:33 PM
Sorry to say, sidux has burned down our old hardware quite easily ;-)Seriously, after a hardware defect this morning we had to move quickly to a brand new & better HP blade with two Dual Xeon 3.2 GHz CPUs (this means 4 CPUs), with 8 GB RAM on a fine 2×250 GB hardware RAID with extra 250 GB backup facilities on a separated server. We are using most of this server alone for our vserver, so it should be working perfectly until we find a better sponsor for a similar equipped root server.

“We believe in the power of shared and open communication and therefore don't split the community by countries or languages, but concentrate them ...” These words from the sidux declaration also are an obligation for the sidux web site, as sidux itself is multilingual.
Many users from all around the world who meet here do speak only their native language. We want to help them making their entry to sidux easier and enabling them to overcome possible language barriers.
We are looking for multilingual people who are willing to contribute their time and knowledge translating articles, news, manuals and other content into their native language. Also proof reading is very much needed and appreciated.
At the moment our small team consists of the following linguists:
