sidux e.V. is pleased to present to you today the first version of sidux-seminarix here for download. This is a educational project that merges Seminarix with the base of sidux. Seminarix is aimed at schooling teachers as well as pupils with free and open software to make computer training in schools less costly and more effective. The project was initiated in March 2007 by Wolf-Dieter Zimmermann, who works in the education of students for a teaching credential. First based upon Kubuntu, sidux e.V. started to port it to sidux with the help of teachers and interested users. With sidux as a powerfull free and open Linux distribution the Seminarix project now has a fast, easy to maintain and always current base.

A lot later than planned, but now we have the pleasure to announce the immediate availability of sidux 2008-01 "Νυξ", shipping in roughly ≈435 MB kde-lite flavours for amd64 and i386 (i686), a combined i386+amd64 release with ≈1470 MB KDE for kde-full and an xdelta to add initial localisations for all currently supported languages.

sidux is a full featured Debian sid based live CD with a special focus on hard disk installations, a clean upgrade path within sid and additional hard- and software support. The ISO is completely based on Debian sid, enriched and stabilized with sidux' own packages and scripts.

Now that KDE 3.5.9 and a working version of qt-x11-free 3.3.8 are available in Debian sid, we have the pleasure to announce the second public preview of sidux 2008-01 "Νυξ", shipping in a roughly ≈460 MB large kde-lite variant for amd64 and i386 systems. Please note this is not the final release, the full featured final release of "Νυξ" will be ready in about 1-2 weeks, intermediate xdeltas will be provided as needed until then.

Now we have the pleasure to announce the first public preview of sidux 2008-01, shipping in a roughly ≈460 MB large kde-lite variant for amd64 and i386 systems. Please note this is not the final release, the full featured final release of "Νυξ" will be ready in about 2-3 weeks (depending on the availability of KDE 3.5.9 in Debian sid), intermediate xdeltas will be provided as needed until then.

We are pleased to announce the release of a sidux DVD.
The DVD holds a ~4 GB sized ISO as multiarch (32 and 64 bit in one ISO) which contains a big variety of KDE apps and other interesting programs and tools mainly for graphics and multimedia use.
A complete packagelist can be seen here.
The technical specifications are the same as sidux-2007-04.5 X-mas special "Ερως" and can be viewed in the release note.
Localisations for Iceweasel, Icedove and KDE are already included for -da, -de, -engb, -es, -fr, -hr, -ja, -nl, -pl, -ptbr, -ro and -ru.
The sidux DVD is not available as download but only at the sidux Webshop.
