Not sure if this has happened to anyone else, but for future reference...
I removed the Terminal Sessions menu button and added Konsole to the kicker instead. After this konsole only opened in a root shell.
I fixed this by editing /home/user/.kde/share/config/konsolerc by changing DefaultSession=su.desktop to DefaultSession=shell.desktop. |

| I wonder *how* you added the (wrong) konsole to the kicker. |

| Usual way. Right click kicker and add application. It seems to me that Konsole was set up the wrong way, ie as root. |

| There is a root console choice under system -> more applications -> terminal user - super user mode. If I'm understanding this right, if you add this choice to the kicker it would open up in su mode. |

Yes, I'm aware of that. It wasn't the one I added too the kicker though.
This is one of life's little oddities, I guess. If you google the issue, you'll see it's happened to others. |

My machine got a related sickness; At some point some weeks ago (I guess after a dist-upgrade but i failed to notice), starting a terminal from konquerors menu will actually fire up a root terminal. The service menu got borked too, when selecting "open terminal here" its also a root terminal that fires up.
No idea how this happened. |

I'm using Nyx and did the usual upgrade after installing. Must admit I didn't notice anything either, but then I focus on what's going to be removed! |
