Installed a new partition with Eros-2007-04, then ran smxi for the latest kernel,
rebooted and then called smxi again for the d-u.
The "large" (435MB of ca. 520 files) d-u broke on libnss3-0d [actually acpid] finally resulting in version conflicts with Iceweasel and OpenOffice.org-core, each one depending on a different version.
[the original error was ACPID error 100]
Tried various methods to correct it, or remove some or all,
to no avail. Repeating install to get ready for the next attempt.
...
Well, I did it again. Did not update the kernel first.
But, actually, the first error comes as follows:
acpid Error 100
and it is the same initial error as before.
[the other errors showed up after trying to fix this. I overlooked the original error.] After running # apt-get -f install & repeatin du, I got this error: dpkg returned error (1).
So I continued the script and installed flash, jave, msttcore
Then out. Going to reboot and try to du again.
So far, the installation is functioning. Will advise after the du.
Will see if the OOo and IceW continue to function.
So far seems to work but there is still the error on du.
Rebooting. |

Removed acpid and reinstalled it,
and now # apt-get -f install is clean.
Now to init 3 to see if the original du will complete. |

| I updated smxi to run this fix pre du for all sidux including eros, previously it ran it for all up to but not including eros. |

| well, you'll only see this pre acpid update, after, it's not an issue, so you'll only see this on fresh installs. |

OK. It's back to a clean state. Life goes on. Thanks.
I was just moving my daily distro to a larger partition. And Eros had lost videos and such while trying to get a USB headset working. Too many changes. :}} |

Yes. I was just moving to a larger partition. It was not drastic.
The old one was still available. Just a few things broken, like, flash, etc.
And now the new one is settling in. All data and other backups on separate partitions.
I use lots of partitions, though not as many as some.
But I appreciate the thought. I have been there. |

For completeness:
Reinstalled the same 10GB partition with 2007-04.5.
Then ran smxi which completed with no problems.
Thanks for the tips. |
