Yes, I used the Erebos kde-lite live cd
I tried different ways:
a) Using other pc ( with sidux ) I installed on a usb stick a persist sidux.
I put the stick in to the eeepc, booted from usb, and tried to install into the "external" sd ( sandisk 2gb)
The install returned me "ok" , but as I startet the eeepc with "boot from sd" I got "missing operative system"
The same sd boots fine with BT3 ( now installed there , so I can't try supergrub or gag or whatever)
b) Using the same persist usb stick I used then a new sd.
( takeMs securdigital 8gb class 6 )
Result: after a while ( few minutes ) the install hungs , complaining it is unable to find the sd.
The sd was then unreadable from any pc ( fdisk reported ext3 , gparted reported "unknown" )
So I formatted it manually with cfdisk as fat 32 again.
c) With sidux I was unable to format the sd with gparted 
With debian ( lenny - on a different pc) I managed tho have the ext3 into the sd.
So I tried to install following the same (b) steps, without formatting the sd.
But I got the same (b) result
d) I grabbed an external usb "adapter" for the sd.
Started a virtual machine on a third pc ( with mepis ) booting from the kde-lite iso ( different download , so the iso should be really ok)
As the virtual sistem was up, I launched the installer into the sd , as a usb device.
but same (b) result
e) I tried to format the sd as ext2/ext3 using cfdisk with xandros (eeepc) , sidux, debian , mepis and even vista (who was even unable to see the sd  ) ..... using both the usb adapter or just the sd slot
then back again to step (b) ... with same results
f) Using the sd with a fat32 system I launched the sidux installer , unchecking the "format as" flag.
after a while the installer hungs , saying he "lost" the sd.
As some of you managed to have a real install into the external sd, it means there should be a way .... but I cannot find it 
By the way.
Using a usb stick I got ONLY a persistent live install.
I got the same errors as I tried to have a "real" install into the usb penstick , even using the install-usb tool in sidux ( who unfortunately can't see the sd slot )
I keep then the persist usb stick, even if sometimes hungs at boot ( problem starting dbus... and I have to delete the fll directory , losing all my changes, to start it again ) |

the grub conf often points to the wrong disk: you can modify your conf at boot time (wait for the boot to fail, then choose 'e' to edit the lines when it drops you back to the kernel chooser) - modifying this line is not permanent
usually root (hd1,0) needs to be changed to root (hd0,1) or vice versa...
You can then make it permanent once booted by editing /boot/grub/menu.lst directly
(I haven't got my eee handy so I can't tell you what mine is referencing ) |

I tried to change the menu.list using (hd1,0) , (hd1,1) , (hd0,0) and even (hd0,1)
but still "no operative system".
Now that sd has bt on it...and I keep it that way  |

On the Eee PC forum, there are a lot of posts about some problems with different brands of SDHC cards. Class 6 is correct, though. Mine is a Patriot 16GB card:

I have no problem with it formatted ext2, as a data partition, but I admit I am not a "hard" user of it. I have it set to automatically mount in /etc/fstab, but of course if I hibernate the computer (S2RAM), then the card is not mounted when it resumes, and I have to issue "mount -a" to get it back.
Can your Xandros OS see that card, save and retrieve data, etc.? I have the BIOS v. 910 -- if you don't have that version, you might want to check out the BIOS update tool on the Eee PC forum.
On the USB stick, I was able to use the Erebos KDE Lite CD to install "fromiso" and "toram", with persistence, using the installer's menu buttons -- no special techniques. I have tried it on 4 or 5 different computers, including the Eee PC, and it has worked correctly on every one I tried. |

The 8GB sd is probably incompatible with your eee's reader. My take on it is there was/is some minor issue with the eee's readers causing some eee's and sd cards (sdhc in particular) to have more problems then others. Certain cards just don't work, others work for some people and not others and the odd eee worked with next to nothing (or nothing). One card and one eee just isn't worth putting a lot of work into debugging but I'll try and re-test installing to sd here to check the sidux code! See here and a few posts down from "nize" for two people with the same problem as you with "the same" card and here for somone saying "I have a TakeMS 8GB and seems to work quite good."
Having said that cleary is also probably right about the other card, when you booted to install the usb-stick was the first drive but when you boot again to boot the install the drive numbering has changed. I'm not sure how the eee presents the sd card though to grub so I'll look at that also.
It is the one thing I don't like about the eee, the way the bios handles drives and boot order. Either I'm stupid or you can't leave it setup so it will boot from usb (or sd) when present or ssd when not |

I concur that there appears to be a problem with that 8GB SDHC card vs. the card reader -- based on the intermittent ability to read it. I think BT3 is maybe loading into RAM, so when it all goes to RAM, then there's no need to continue reading the card for routine operation.

With sidux and grub installed on the SSD, and BIOS set to boot from the SSD, the SDHC card is always (hd1) and /dev/sdb on mine. I have to change the boot sequence in BIOS to enable it to boot from a USB stick or plugged in USB device. It seems the card reader is a USB device, but it also seems to have the priority over the other USB ports -- at least that is my impression. |

I'm thinking of removing this as a sticky - I apologise for not keeping it updated, and with the proliferation of other netbooks now, I don't think this thread is of much value as a sticky anymore...

| Well, reinstalling 2008-2 xfce today, on my eeepc900, and this post has been a huge help. I'll be using the info on the first post to tweak my install over the next few days. This post has saved me tons of search time to find all of the references that I need. Thanks! |

| The KDE Lite system, plus FF 3, OOO, Amarok and a few other packages is about 2.5G on my 701. |
