the new kernel 2.6.23.1-slh-smp-18 use for this netgear wlan card the new free module ath5k_pci. with this module ifconfig -a shows the card but the connecting to the network doesn't work. here a workaround to go back to the old non-free driver:

rmmod ath5k
modprobe ath_pci


ps: i hope in future the new free driver will work.
