Just as an info for the kernel developers ...
on my system:

Host/Kernel/OS "Berlin" running Linux 2.6.23.1-slh-smp-9 i686 [ sidux 2007-03 - Γαῖα preview 2 - kde-lite - (200707231344) ]
CPU Info mobile AMD Athlon XP 2400+ 256 KB cache flags( sse ) clocked at [ 1396.069 MHz ]
Videocard ATI Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] X.Org 1.4.0 [ 1024x768 @60hz ]
Network cards VIA VT6102 [Rhine-II], at port: d400
Processes 107 | Uptime 5min | Memory 110.8/757.5MB | HDD WDC WD1200BEVE-11UYT0 Size 120GB (55%used) | Client Shell | Infobash v2.67
the last kernel, able to proper shut down the fans was 2.6.23.1-slh-smp-1.
During boot process no error messages are appearing, powersaved is started without errors. Even the fans slow down but they never stop as before.
I switched from -1 to -8 and -9. Only -1 worked fine.
