Can anyone elaborate on this? It seems counter-intuitive to me on sid of all distros.

The point ist that sidux is a rolling release. Every change of sid is a "new release", so every update have to be a dist-upgrade.
Apt-get upgrade is only for upgrading stable releases and might leave packages that have to be replaced what would cause errors.

Don't mix up "dist-upgrade" with installing a new release. You DON'T make a dist-upgrade by installing a new release.

"dist-upgrade" means:
Code:
apt-get update
apt-get dist-upgrade

This is the recommended way to keep your system up-to-date. This is what makes sidux a rolling release. (But DON'T ever use "apt-get upgrade" with sidux)

A new release of sidux is only a snapshot of this rolling release and therefore no advantage compared with it. It is for testing and new install.

That's exactly what I meant. Thanks for the clarification.
