Ya it's fixed, in fact, now alsaconf is not required at all.

damentz,

Oops, I should not write "late" in the evening Mr. Green

Just wanted to ask: alsa is already working here without alsaconf perfectly on three boxes. I am a bit afraid now to install the new version with a totally new structure. Are there any caveats or does it work like a charm?

hubi

PS: edited, because it did not come across, that I have actually a question Rolling Eyes

Me, too. I've never had to do anything for sound. Is this going to break my system, or will there be adequate instructions?

This is old information regarding alsa 1.4, sid now has 1.5. If your sound doesn't work, chances are that it will take lots of effort to get it working since everything is pretty much automated now.
