yes, as can be seen on
http://sidux.com/Article303.html
we have new mirrors
and more coming up soon
please only use suggested repos for dist-upgrades;
sidux.com, sidux.net, debian.tu-bs.de, ftp.spline.de
are the mirrors that are most up to date for use as debian-repository
our new mirrors
http://sidux.com/Article303.html
are, as stated, for isos and kernels, tho the repo may be mirrored
for latest-fixes or updates its best to use our current sources.list system

You also can try sidux(0-4).kicks-ass.net as quick links to various mirrors.

Australia/ New Zealand

* Linux NZ/ Auckland, New Zealand
ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/ (only accessible from New Zealand)

because of b/w restrictions to overseas
slow to not-nz
very fast inside new zealand tho
ok, rsync added to nz .. must be like:
rsync://debian.co.nz/sidux/

So if I want to use the above Kiwi mirror, do I just add it to my sources.list e.g.

ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/ sid/main or
ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/ sid main fix.main etc?

and disable the ones I already have?

I believe that's correct. That's essentially what I did to use the Pullman, WA mirror, and it works. You'll have to ask h2 about how to get the script to pull kernels from the different mirror. He had mentioned it once, in another thread, but it got erased.

once the mirrors settle down a bit I'll add a one time kernel download mirror selector option like the current sources.list option, so users can set their desired kernel mirrors.

Currently this only works with -E option for de mirror.

You mean leave the existing ones and just add the nz ones as extras?

EDIT: Ok I must be doing something wrong. I added the following to my sources.list:

#NZ mirrors
deb ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/ sid main
deb ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/ sid main fix.main
deb ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/ debian unstable main contrib non-free

and ran apt-get update to see what would happen. It connected to the server ok but returned a heap of errors for the NZ mirror as per below:

Code:
Failed to fetch ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/dists/debian/contrib/binary-i386/Packages.gz  Unable to fetch file, server said '/sidux/dists/debian/contrib/binary-i386/Packages.gz: No such file or directory  '

What have I done wrong? Confused

You only need a single line, and that's

Code:

#NZ mirrors
deb ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/debian sid main contrib non-free firmware fix.main fix.contrib fix.non-free

The forum descapitalize the word sidux, so you have to capitalize it

OK, I deleted my own nz entries and replaced them with yours above (capitalised sidux) but somethings still not right. When I do apt-get update I get:

E: Type 'ftp://debian.co.nz/sidux/debian' is not known on line 18 in source list /etc/apt/sources.list

now that's weird, you sure you put "deb" ?

http://paste.debian.net/35761 my output of apt-get update, and grep debian.co.nz /etc/apt/sources.list

sheesh, my mistake. I forgot the "deb" <looks sheepish>

It works now - well almost. I get one error:

Code:
Failed to fetch http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/contrib/binary-i386/PackagesIndex  MD5Sum mismatch
Reading package lists... Done
E: Some index files failed to download, they have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

but everything else worked ok.
