Trying to set up my printer in sidux using the KDE Print wizard.
It detects the (only) printer, identifies the drivers and then asks for a user name and password so I can test the set up.
My username is already in the dialog box so I enter the password and get this:
Code:
Authentication failed (user name=paul) Do you want to retry?
Retrying gives the same negative result as indeed does entering root as the user.
What's up with this? |

Thanks for your reply.
OK, using root worked but ONLY after I had checked (or depressed) the Keep Pasword request.
The first time it just gave me the same authentication error.
Moreover, when I retried to print a test page as root it complained that "could not remove temporary printer".
Nevertheless, printing now works but only after I selected an appropriate temporary printer of which four were available.
I need to read up on this. |

Same here - your comment about the tick box is valuable information - it's been hit or miss over the last 4 months.
