I installed sidux 2007-3 today and I can't find a way to edit files from a text editor.
So, while I can open Kwrite as a user without problems, I cannot save the resulting file.
If I try overcome this by opening Kwrite as root I get this
Code:
Xlib: connection to ":0.0" refused by server
Xlib: No protocol specified
kwrite: cannot connect to X server :0.0
How can I get around this?
Thanks
Paul |

If you don't like the command line then...
System->More Applications->File Manager-Super User Mode
Login as root
Go to file you want to edit, right click and select open with Kwrite
You should now be able to edit and save Ok. |

BTW: not *all* command line editors are scary. You could try nano or mcedit, for example.
Regarding clubex' hint: I think you can even right click in your *user's* konqueror; IIRC there should be an option "Edit as root" which will prompt you for the password |

| for text files, you can just right click on the file, got to Actions -> Edit as Root. you might need to install the kdeaddons package to have this option, IIRC. |

I'd always prefer sux, as you are also able to open any Application that needs root privileges by terminal then.
Greetings, evnu |
