Hello
It would be nice to create a server version of sidux.
What may included and what not may be the subject of a pool and may be a nice addition to the expected sidux dvd...

Please define what a server is...

Yes, that's exactly where the problem begins. |

That's the point a server version or versions fr various user needs like file server, development, multimedia server etc...
You should define what are the most appropriate (interesting) groups.
I am not sure but i think server version(s) with the educational sidux (somewhere read about it) and the DVD, will cover all he spectrum of user needs... |

There's really no such thing as a 'server', there's a computer that runs various servers, so the real question is what you want to serve. For example, is my desktop that is running mysql server, apache server, nfs server, samba server, a server?
Generally for a server you want it fairly stable and solid, and you want to have some idea how to work with the various servers the machine runs, and you want a minimum of consumer desktop crap installed, ideally no gnome or kde at all since those just eat up resources. |

| simply a base install plus something like mysql or postgresql (for a database server) apache+php (web server) for example. You don't need a lot of extraneous h/w so you can dump the soundcard and use a cheapo vid card for a console ( you don't need X ) |
