I am now officially the #1 svg fan in the universe - this thread is to keep a track of my art as I work on it.

I've also started writing an inkscape section in the wiki: http://sidux.com/index.php?module=Wikul ... inkscapeEN
It would be great if anyone would help contribute tutes, updates or screenshots even Wink

All work posted by me in this thread is copyright Bernard Gray <bernard.gray at gmail.com> and licensed under the GPL v2 or higher

This means that you are free (and I encourage you to) use and modify the GPL'ed artwork I provide (acknowledging my contribution and depending on circumstance, re-releasing under the GPL)
- I'm not an artist by trade, I hack and I enjoy learning new stuff, and I want to encourage others to get in and try it, so please do variations of my stuff and post them back here Smile

Note: for versions of inkscape <= 0.45 this takes a loong time to export to bitmap. It is currently resolved in the development version which I've detailed instructions for compiling in the wiki

The glassy icon inkscape svg source is attached, minus the park photo background. I left it in for the preview because it highlights the glass effect pretty well imo. If you like that wallpaper, it's in /usr/share/wallpapers/soft-green.jpg on the std sidux-kde install (I can't seem to find what package it's in)

sidux-aero-vista anyone?

Shrink that picture please!

To me, the gradient cutting off abruptly sticks out like a sore thumb.
We've discussed it, and that's the look Cleary's going for.

Personally, I prefer a smooth transition.

Call me thick, but how do I download the damn things. If I click on it I keep just getting the code on a new tab, and if I right click and save as, I get something similar. No zip file. Crying or Very sad

Right Click Save As will NOT work. The link is to some referrer, so you have to be logged in and left-click on it.
Dunno why it's giving you code.

Thanks, TheBlunderbuss, but I am logged in. I get sent to this link:
http://sidux.com/PNphpBB2-download-id-3 ... 0b6f9.html
which gives me binary code.

Iceweasel and Opera don't even show the links on the page. Annoying.

Is it possible to have all artwork posted in the Gallery in case others come up with this issue?

I don't think the gallery will view SVG files.

Fair enough. How about, then, a direcory at http://debian.tu-bs.de/project/sidux/ called 'svgart', with subdirectories for each artist? Pictures can be displayed in the forum with a link then to that file.

It's just that if the artwork for sidux is to be in svg format, and it can't be displayed in the gallery, we should probably have somewhere where users can download it.
