| The fdi file was not wrong, the people who requested it from hal (the debian X team) were not prepared for the changes it brought. |

| That is only an issue if your /bin/sh doesn't isn't a symlink to /bin/bash, which would be rather uncommon (at least something you'd know of, as debian and sidux defaults are bash and it does need active changing of that default). For all other makedev will install without a hitch, as the "wrong" syntax works fine with bash - furthermore makedev is pretty useless on udev based systems, even though it is still mandated by policy and essential=yes (it creates device nodes for the no longer used static /dev/ hidden below udev). |

The bug reported is for 2.4 rc1-2 (noy rc2-1)
I can't replicate this bug - 2.4 rc1-2 works fine here with the copy / paste bug not an issue
