Ok, here are my requests for the next stable release.
Replace Amarok with XMMS
Replace Kopete with Gaim
Make Iceweasel the default app for all HTML, and other web related stuff
Make KPDf the default viewer for PDF files.
I would very much like to see OpenOffice.org replace Koffice, but I realize that there may be issues with the size of OpenOffice.org
Just my $0.10 (inflation you know! ) |

1) amarok is the best music player ever
2) konqueror is less buggy then iceweasel/firefox
2) kpdf is the default pdf-viewer
3) ooo has already replaced koffice |

1) XMMS is the standard, I too agree it should be the default
3) Good stuff.
2 and 2 make no difference to me as I install GNOME anyway. |

| Amarok is such a fantastic program, I highly doubt it will be removed from the next full release. |

I don't think Amarok should necessarily be removed. I got the impression from his post that xmms wasn't included (I modified my system so much right after I installed it that I have no idea if it was) and I feel it should be.
Anyway, seriously, apt makes it very easy to install anything you need. I did find it weird when the command line ftp wasn't installed, but again, a single command fixes it. Thats why I love Debian based distros. So I don't really have any strong feelings about which software should be included. If I were customizing it for myself there'd be no KDE but I see thats obviously not what people want, and I can get GNOME easily. |

Amarok rocks, especially with the new version that includes Shoutcast stations.
Konq is the default for KDE, besides it takes two minutes to set iceweasel as the default.
Koffice is much lighter than OOo allowing for other apps on the livecd.
It doesn't really matter what apps are included by default any way, apt makes it painless to install whatever apps you might need. |

| We're trying to get rid of gtk+ 1.2 dependencies which would instantly free up ~50 MB, so xmms is not an option - other alternatives instead of amaroK perhaps. |

| i wouldn't say that it doesn't matter at all which software is is on the live-cd. it's very easy to install whatever you want via apt, yes. but it's nice for someone new to debian or even linux to have a good preselection of applications, minimizing the risk of getting into dependency problems when apt-getting additional software. moreover it makes it easy to install sidux on machines without fast internet access, making a poor man's install or simply booting with toram somewhere... |

| I agree with craig. All I really look for in the live CD is a platform to run while the installer works. I care that sidux detects my hardware correctly (which it does) and that it provides me easy access to huge amounts of software (which it does). I wouldn't mind if there was a way to do a "base only" install of sidux that didn't include, say, KDE and related packages (because I don't use them). However, I'm not complaining - I can always just not use them. |

Shame really, but an alternative to xmms is audacious.
I really detest amarok. |
