For the next sidux release, we are opening up the opportunity for you to get your art on the wallpaper.
There are some rules:
* The art must include the official sidux logo - colours/size/shape may be modified but it must still be easily recognisable
* In keeping with sidux' open source policy, the art must be licensed under a Debian Free Software Guidelines compatible model
* Once the competition is complete, the art team will begin working on ksplash and kdm artwork, and are also hoping to be able to generate all or part of an icon set to theme with the background - in order to aid this submissions must also include a format that preserves final image layers. Suitable formats include .svg (Scalable Vector Graphics), .xcf (Gimp), .psd (Photoshop), .cpt (Corel Photopaint), but free software is preferred Wink
Submissions close the 31st March, and the winning art will be announced on the 2nd April.

you can upload you work to a prepared album also at:
http://sidux.com/module-Mediashare-view-aid-22.html

The official sidux logo can be found in inkscape svg form in this thread:
http://sidux.com/index.php?name=PNphpBB ... 6645#16645

For help with meeting Licensing requirements, see this thread:
http://sidux.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-2576.html

Good Luck!

Oh cool... A month to do a complete icon set? *bottom jaw drops to the floor* Icons are probably the most time consuming, depending on the detail. I can maybe knock out some of the core ones in that time frame. The guy who created Nuvola (my favorites) took over a year to do it.

What about matching splashscreen and login splash? Are those fair game?

There is no hard time limit anywhere, what isn't ready for Τάρταρος might go into Γαῖα and any improvement is a huge step forward (especially regarding icons, in the past we usually borrowed those from KDE or other apps - free licenses, but neither custom nor really fitting to our tools).

Good to know... One more quick question *readies question card* ... what about color scheme? Is this red and black set in stone or is it spin the color wheel for something more fetching? If red, and I guess black, is the sure deal, do we have Pantone/hex code colors set yet so everyone stays consistant?

So many questions for a such a little green martian.

@rodneyck - I've updated devil's post to clarify a few points you raised - note the scope of this competition is wallpaper only. The icons, ksplash and kdm art can be completed by the art team once the winning wallpaper is selected.

also, "* The art must include the official sidux logo - colours/size/shape may be modified but it must still be easily recognisable "

Here's my first (possibly of many Wink ) entry:

edit: a bunch of updates: red variation, plus blue and red variations without the sun texture in the background. All attachments contain a 1920x1200ws and 1600x1200 png as well as the GPL'ed svg source

In default of any idea right now I just have my "iced sidux":

widescreen:

1024x768:

GPL
xcf here (1024 & 1920, 10 MB): http://spacepenguin.de/download/sidux/i ... xcf.tar.gz

If you just need the 1024x768 xcf better download this, it's only 2 MB:
http://spacepenguin.de/download/sidux/i ... xcf.tar.gz

GPL, xcf on demand.

Please supply license information and xcf image with the bitmaps - something like the .zip supplied by cathbard is perfect -

Thanks for the submission, it looks great Smile
