Hi..
seems like there is one area which may give benefits. Drop Firefox / Iceweasel and just use Konqueror - which is an excellent browser.
Next up is to have a multi-CD format. The base (=usual CD) remains as is but gains a loader of some sort - let's keep it simple. A tar file loader.
These are hauled in over the web or from a 2nd CD (how many PC's have 2 drives now? CD and DVD).
Union fs layers the tars (or whatever format) on top of the base CD.
Why do it like this? Because then at sidux a "hidden" DVD could be built - and offered as a base CD plus a series of themed add-ons, _all from the same build_. These would be offered as "advanced networking and server CD", "multimedia CD" etc etc.
People can dl the 2nd CD, load up the progs they need (layered silently by union fs over the base CD) and pop out the second CD.
Well, it's an idea.

I was a longtime Firefox user on Windows (anything but IE) and then on Linux, until I found Konqueror. Konqueror does rock! Once you get it customized to your liking, it blows firefox/iceweasel out of the water imo. It's much faster, plus it is so integrated into KDE.
I feel a Konqueror dance coming on... *knocks over flower vase.* |
