hi every bodi,
new here on sidux i used kanotix before switching to sidux64.
i am now on sidux and i will stay here.
just trying to anderstand about my wireless using the intel proset 3945ABC,
do i have to wait until the driver came with the kernel or can i do some thing already to make it work.
my question seems not clear, so forgive me,

apt-get install ipw3945d firmware-ipw3945
then run netcardconfig

Hi,
just a hint in case of install fails after doing the procedures as described by devil.
Unload and reload the module ipw3945 (for example by modconf - to be found there in kernel/drivers/net/wireless - and start the appropriate daemon again, that should work. Thus it worked for me.
It was discussed in the american ThinkPad-Forum under http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.ph ... t=ipw3945.
Seems to be that Sid is starting the daemon before loading the module requested.

Da kommt bei mir der Fehler:
Konnte Paket ipw3945d nicht finden
muß ich noch eine bestimmte Quelle eintragen? Wenn ja, wo ist nochmal die Datei? |

du musst die sources.list ändern. hier eine aktuelle:

gründe dafür stehen in der release note zur final

Ach ich erinnere mich, die Frage hatte ich schon mal. Die source.list habe ich also erneuert. Jedoch (das war beim letzten mal auch) findet er wieder die Quellen nicht.

Habe noch an der source.list gebastelt und konnte den Treiber installieren. Aber ich habe eine Fehlermeldung erhalten.
Hole:1 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/non-free firmware-ipw3945 0.3 [61,1kB]
Hole:2 http://ftp.de.debian.org unstable/non-free ipw3945d 1.7.22-4 [37,6kB]
Es wurden 98,8kB in 0s geholt (317kB/s)
Wähle vormals abgewähltes Paket firmware-ipw3945.
(Lese Datenbank ... 101207 Dateien und Verzeichnisse sind derzeit installiert.)
Entpacke firmware-ipw3945 (aus .../firmware-ipw3945_0.3_all.deb) ...
Wähle vormals abgewähltes Paket ipw3945d.
Entpacke ipw3945d (aus .../ipw3945d_1.7.22-4_i386.deb) ...
Richte firmware-ipw3945 ein (0.3) ...
Richte ipw3945d ein (1.7.22-4) ...
* Not starting ipw3945 regulatory daemon, driver not loaded. |

What do you mean exactly with driver? The appropriate kernelmodul or the daemon - first by using modconf second to operate by /etc/inint.d/ipw3945d [start/stop/restart] both to handle as root. Restart just has to be used after altering any configurations, start should be enough.
Try to unload and reload ipw3945 in modconf as mentioned above and start the daemon again like /etc/init.d/ipw3945d start.
