Hello All,
after installing sidux 2007-01 the time was coming, to switch over step by step from WinXP to Linux.
To switch fully over, I have to build in some applications for doing my homebanking. At this time, I am using "Starmoney 5.0" with a HBCI / FINTS Chipcard. The Card is read by my built-in Cardreader at my Computer.
So now I am looking for a program to do my homebanking with linux, especially sidux.
While looking at the web, I found two programs:
GnuCash and KmyMoney. The second one will be my favorite.
Is there a chance to get the program (perhaps with the "apt-get" command) and its needed packages to handle with a HBCI Card ?
The program itself will be downloaded at the "kmymoney" - Website, that's no problem, but I ask myself the question, if it will run under sidux.
May anybody help me ? |

KMymoney is in the debian repo so you can just apt-get it.
as for the HBCI libs you can apt-get them |

There is also this one...

I also found aqbanking-tool in the repos which you might need as a middle layer for HBCI, not sure, but check it out. |

@DeepDayze & @rodneyck
Thank you for the hints.
meanwhile I found exactly the programs, you wrote for.
the only problem to install kmymoney is to compile it (I 've downloaded it at https://sourceforge.net/project/showfil ... _id=4708).
The HowTo (readme) says that I have to compile the files with the command
Code:
./configure
The last output tells:
Quote:
"checking for X... configure: error: Can't find X includes. Please check your installation and add the correct paths!
I don't know the failure and what to do. In my mind, there will be a path (systempath) where to find the system-enviroment and the "configure" - command starts the search.
(If you want, you can watch out the complete output here--> http://www.maiemi.de/Doc/KMMOP1.txt, it's too long for a post here...
The other packages, I would have to install seemed to be installed correctly.
(These are: libchipcard3, aqbanking and gwenhygfar)
I don't know how to type the correct packagenames to install them with the "apt-get install <package.name>" command. Is there a chance to get the name of the needed packagenames anywhere ? |

| How did you install sidux? Lite, full or a cross-over from someother distro? It might be that you need development files which do not come with the lite version and need to be installed, which is why I ask. |

Why the hell are you compiling Kmymoney?
Code:
~$ apt-cache search kmymoney
kmymoney2 - personal finance manager for KDE
So, a simple
Code:
apt-get update && apt-get install kmymoney2
will do the trick.
Besides that, if you ever really need to compile a KDE-application be prepared to install all necessary -dev files before. But - even better - NEVER DO IT. After all that's why you use Debian - because you do not like to compile everything yourself, right?
Greetings,
Chris |

maiemi, I don,t know how long you have been using a Debian based distro but it is simple to see if an application is in the repositories apt-cache search as slam suggested but I like to use synaptic for searching. It is not installed in sidux so just apt-get-install synaptic and it will appear in your system menu it gives a comprehensive view of all packages installed upgradeable and available. kmymoney2 is there just waiting to be installed. |

@all
thank you for the hints !
@titan:
sidux is my first distro , Debian based. the further linux distros, I'd used, were Suse, then openSuse.
I tried years before to change from Windows to Linux, but failed because there where too much to do to find the drivers for the hardware, to find the software, I needed an many other problems, I wouln't solve.
So many years, I never testet , if it would be able to change.
Since I tested sidux, there is hope and since I've a DSL Flat, there will be a chance
There are many questions, like the procedure to find the right packages, like "what ist synaptic" and many more.
The situation is like thjs:
I am a newbie. I can solve some logical problems, and find the most informations, I need, but the "special ways" , I have to go withe the "Debian-way" , I also have to learn. (There is no Yast )
I am sure, one day I ' ll know, how to do the one or other step
And still until this will happen, I hope, you (all) will be there to help me at my silly trying of solving my problems....
Excuse my English, there may be some failures in my posts, I am a German, but I learned, that English is the Language, you need in the computer business |

hmm... the readme shows it...
I've loaded the program by the program-download.site...
Your post shows me, that it is very very necessary to learn all about "apt" ...
I promise, I'll do it right now !
Thank you for the hints !!! |

so, now I've found out, what kind of Cardreader is mine:
It's a Winbond Smartcard Reader WEC0513
Old aunt google won't give me some hints, how to bring it up to run under debian / linux.
If I'm going to the Winbonds-Website, there are only Win-Drivers offered and the drivers all are from the year 2001.
Is there a possibility to become the Reader running with Linux ? |
