| Would really like to see Lightscribe included. I haven't seen a deb distro with it yet. |

$ apt-cache search lightscribe
$
Tell me where we could find it (and yes, for including it into sidux it would need to be dfsg free). |

I found the files needed at Lacie. It is a default app in the repo for PCLinuxOS 0.94 TR2. I have it installed by using alien to create debs. It is a very basic app but adds a little decor to cds. Just thought it would be nice to have it in the repo.
Thanks |

| "Nice to have" doesn't make it legally redistributable, nor free and open source software - and for anything to be included in sidux it would need to qualify as dfsg free. |

Is there a license file in the package? if so, does it allow redistribution? if not, then no dice.
Why not pass along a link so slh can review the license and he can then make a decision. |

| From what I understand it is a non-free, closed source kernel module. |

| So then it CANNOT be included in the ISO...but not sure if it can be legally distributed as a deb from the non-free repo |

| Everything a quick web search finds are i586 RPMs of unredistributable, closed source nature. For something as optional as that dfsg free sources compatible to i686 and amd64 at least are pretty much a hard requirement for me. |

I wouldn't mind lightscribe but when I tried it on PCLinuxOS it told me I didn't have a lightscribe enabled device, even though my dvd writer has a HUGE lightscibe sticker on it and the drawer has the word lightscribe imprinted on it.
Not sure it's worth the hassle for me. |
