I'm also seeding it, but the tracker seems to be off. I have 3 peers.

Since I am busy seeding the iso, I can't use it Sad

If you have still spare space on hd, copy this file, if not stop seeding for the time needed to burn. Sharing is not meant to be a high tec kind of SM.

I already burned the cd, while it was seeding (more than one app can read a file at a time). I'll use it tomorrow and let the seed go on overnight.

I suppose if I really wanted to I could mount the iso as a loop device and debootstrap it, but I don't have the inclination to do it tonight.

I am looking forward to seeing the Final though. I was impressed with the prerelease.

Bye-bye PCLOS...(I _hate_ that name, and I don't like rpm's).

True! I'm seeding sidux 2007-01 and sidux 2007-01 LITE...There is allways somebody downloading sidux so please seed if you can Smile. I have noticed that when someone mention sidux on other forums/IRC etc. it causes instant torrent downloading. It's fun to give something back and seed this great distro for dozens of people.

Just a reminder to some people with problems seeding (mainly US) some ISP's won't let you seed torrents.

It is a shame that in a "free" country companies can decide to ban people from doing things that are perfectly legal because others do illegal things. Under that same logic countries could ban the whole Internet because there are criminals that use it for their illegal activities.

I will surely be seeding Tartarus when it is released.

If the sidux servers are getting hit hard (Has this actually been a problem?), might Jigdo offer a better/faster solution than Bittorrent? Jigdo has worked great for me with Debian ISOs.

Actually it's not because of "illegal" things, it is due to bandwidth and people hogging a node.

piper: I thought the whole torrents was to distribute the load so that servers would be free to serve other things, and the users could directly connect to each other IP to IP. At least that's the whole theory behind P2P as far as I see it.

There is no question about it, when a new release comes out, the servers get hammered. Jigdo is Debian's answer to the problem, but even that still hammers the servers because many people are downloading the same basic packages. Note however, Jigdo is not something that new users of Linux would likely use. Many find the idea of an .iso strange and need to be spoon fed on what to do with it. Installing and using Jigdo is much more complicated than just clicking "Burn Image".

Furthermore jigdo is not technically capable to create a sidux ISO, for a lot of reasons.

What about advertising the torrents more visibly in the release announcement? Also, putting torrent files at the download URLs would make more people chose that option.
