Tsk, you'd think they would make it a bit more obvious than putting a 64 in the title <ahem>
I'm used to looking for the amd64 bit at the end now.
I went ahead and downloaded on the assumption it was dual arch and just checked it, luckily I just happened to pick sidux64 (and there's less than 2 minutes download left). |

Many thanks to all involved.
A great distro and an excellent support community.
I've been playing with both 64 and 32 bit versions this evening most impressive, it's hard to believe that this is based on something called "unstable".

I installed sidux64 earlier today but I haven't had time to start setting it up yet and I'm just wondering, are there any advantages for me doing a fresh install?
My 64-bit current install was done by using an etch netinstall disk and I only installed the essentials before using h2's script to update to sidux.
The current install is working pretty much perfectly, even printing is working which has always been a big issue with me so should I just leave it as it is?
I must admit I'm pretty daunted by the thought of all the work involved getting a new install to the state of my current install. |

Well, you don't need to install the iso unless your own installation got axxed. Debian is designed so that it is usually possible to never have to reinstall the operating system, and if there is a problem, usually reinstalling the problem package does the trick.
This laptop is using an installation since 6 months ago ( new record for me ) and I have been severely experimented with it. Suprisingly it is still rock solid AND I use it at least an hour or two a day. |

| Well I spoke too soon, after dist-upgrading (nothing seemingly major) I am having all sorts of problems, can't reinstall nvidia drivers, fstab has become corrupted and app not running. Dunno what's caused it all but at least it gives me the motivation to set up the new install |

Hello sidux-crew
thank you for that great job, you did with this first final !
And a very very special "thank you" for the "frozen bubble" (a new version, I didn't knew before)

| I must admit that I was sceptical at first and thought it wouldn't be possible to beat Kanotix in terms of quality and usability. But the sidux team did an outstanding job and, looking back, your decision to split with Kano was in the users' interest after all. Congratulations on your first release! |

I don't get this part, not at all
Are you saying to people not to install sidux and stay with either kanotix or etch ?
People have different "motives" for different things, if someone wanted to stay with kanotix, they would indeed be hanging out at kanotix and not even bother with sidux, if someone wanted to stay with sarge or etch, they would be hanging out at debian.
Please don't discourage people of trying the sidux iso and sticking with kanotix/etch.
If people weren't interested they wouldn't be here !
Please don't take this the wrong way, we encourage sidux very much.
Please be aware that the cross-grade path from Etch netinstall and Kanotix was a temporarily solution, and is not supported officially by sidux any more since we published our own release.
We will strive hard to support people who already went this path as long as possible, but we also encourage people searching for a new install to use our own ISO with our own installer. The final release is out , and there is no reason any more for alternative installation methods. |

I'm sure that a fresh install with the official iso would be better, but since I pugeremoved kanotix packages, installed sidux kernel and packages, actually I don't know (and didn't read) about any important/"dangerous" differences. Are already there any now? |

| Sorry, but I can't take credit for the graphics on the disc, the only thing of mine on the iso is the grub and a couple of icons. |
