* * *
This icon theme is based on Saki's excellent nuoveXT-1.6 icons, but some icons/icon additions I have taken from snowish (also by Saki), OS-L, crystalclear, realistiK and Tango. All "robbed" icon themes are GPL. The photos I have used for some folders are taken by myself.
You should have installed an icon theme like nuoveXT, nuvox, Vista-Inspirate or snowish because this theme does not contain all necessary icons (I mostly concentrated on filesystems, actions and some applications) and therefore "inherits" those themes (if installed). If necessary edit the line "Inherits=" in the index.desktop file if you want another icon theme to be included or if you want to change the order of the used themes.
Because an icon theme which contains all icons in all sizes is a very huge package I have written a script to convert the missing sizes and only provide the 128x128 icons.
Unpack the theme to a directory of your choice and execute "./iconvert_nb". The script will do the work of converting the icons for you and tries to sharpen the smaller ones accordingly. BTW: The theme does not contain folder.png and folder_open.png because I cannot know if you prefer a simple black folder or a colored one (I prefer the red one, therefore a lot of the folder icons are based on the red one). The script will ask you which one you prefer and then link folder.png and folder_open.png to it. If you type in a wrong name when asked to do so a wrong link is made and you have to remove it and link manually.
In accordance to the original theme this theme also goes with GPL. If necessary I could provide some xcf files as sources to show how I modified some icons but I don't have the sources of the nuovext theme (I consider the nuovext png files as my sources).
EDIT:
The theme is now available at kde-look.org. |

Spacepenguin,
I really like your "sidux simplyblue". It's my current wallpaper and has been for weeks. |

I've been using your root icons for ages. I have been thinking of doing a similar thing for my own sets. It's a great idea, I like it lots.
I use a radically different colour scheme on my root user as well. I use konqueror as root quite a lot and it makes life so much simpler when it looks different.
For those that don't know: you can change your colours and icons for your root user while logged in as a normal user. Simply open a konsole and type:
sux
kcontrol
You now have the control centre for the root user and you can make the appropriate changes to colours and icons. |

Disclaimer: Logging in as root is thoroughly discouraged. Regardless of precautions taken, it is dangerous and not required. Hence root logons via kdm are disabled by default. |

Cathbard was saying he uses Konqueror as root, he never stated he logs in as root. |

Cool, I understand.
Completely off topic but whenever I see posts from you, Cathbard or bluewater I get so homesick (I'm from Adelaide). Luckily I'll be visiting in January to get my fix of sun and see family and friends. |

I don't ever log in as root (its enabled but never used). I was simply explaining how to change the colour scheme and icons for the root user without ever having to actually log in as root.
It's a good idea to change the root user's appearance because then when you run an X app (like konqueror) as root you get a different look on that window to all the apps running as your user. After all, root has the power of god so it is good to make apps running as root stand out from the crowd.
I hope that's all clear now.
Seeker: Coming back in the middle of summer? You must be homesick. |

As I read about the Ourea release I immediately thought of lava running down a mountain. The result (it's just an idea):

Yes, please enter the competition. Black and red are my colours of choice for sidux. Make this colours sort of trademark or CID or whatever you name it.

| Thanks - but I'm not sure about the competition. I don't like working with inkscape and svg, I only do bitmaps - and the competition requires svg. This picture is a gimp-only one. Maybe someone wants to adopt the idea and wants to make a svg out of it? |
