My usb scanner is not working anymore since upgrade to kde4
it worked for years with sidux and kanotix but sometimes after a du or new kernel it didn't work for a short while.

Now I have read almost all scanner related topics on this and other forums, but still no go,

jack@jacksbox1:~$ scanimage -L
device `gt68xx:libusb:002:003' is a Mustek ScanExpress 1200 UB Plus flatbed scanner

So my scanner is detected by system ok.

but when I start xsane, after I while I get error message;

Could not find device ' gt68xx:libusb:002:003': false argument

when I check /proc/bus/usb I see that this is empty

I do have right firmware file installed , scanner was working before.

Any suggestions?

to slh,

I used search in synaptic and search for ; usb
then I installed everything I thought was related to usb, libusb.. , usbview, usb-python.. etc

xsane , still no go
then I started; quiteinsane as user , no go
then Quiteinsane as root and the it worked.
Now quiteinsane and xsane also work as normal user even after reboot.
So what did the trick, I don't know.
