Just ran the H2 script from kanotix and I can log into the desktop fine and most things work but if i try to open something that needs to run as root user (like clock settings or file manager as superuser) i get an incorrect password given.
this is the correct password that i enter in.
if i open a shell and su to the root user it accepts my correct password so the problem seems to be with KDE.
Also the control center in KDE is empty.
Is it a case that I need to re run the H2 script ?
BTW, the H2 script is excellent work. well done.

what kanotix version did you start with?
when did you last update your kanotix?
this was a known issue a long time ago in some kanotix releases
Sometimes: apt-get install --reinstall kdebase-data
worked to fix that, I can't remember if that's the only fix required. |

If the above don't work try
Code:
apt-get install --reinstall -o DPkg::Options::=--force-confmiss -o DPkg::Options::=--force-confnew kdebase-data

for the benefit of other sidux user who may have this issue, the problem is now resolved.
I had to boot into another desktop, open xterm and su to the root user
then I ran "apt-get install --reinstall kdebase-data"
This then fixed the issue. all control panel options now exist and can log in as root user on root access privilages like file manager super user.
One case to note when the problem existed was that the kde icons were of the old type (firefox for example) was the old red type of icon. firefox is now the blue round icon.
Thanks again for the quick response and fix.
