True, however I came to the conclusion that gparted might be restricted in what it could to with a filesystem according to the limits of that specific filesystem, for example, xfs for a fact cannot be shrunk.

Yes, unfortunately, the only thing I do wish XFS could do is shrink.... since I could compare other file systems MUCH more efficiently, than what I must currently do. Although I am 100% satisfied with my XFS choice of / and /home partitions Smile

Another reason to stick with ext2/3 is if you also operate other OSes like DOS, OS/2 and Windows, there are alot of utilities to get info off of the Linux system if it is on a ext2/3. And I am forever forgetting copy a file from Linux onto a FAT or NTFS partition. Total Commander has a read only plugin that allows you access ext2/3 through the its built in ftp client.
