hi, buddies,
which is the best software to watch a webcam on sidux? which one you most recommend to work it out. by the way, does it fit for all webcams? my camera is working all right on sidux because the kopete has detected it and it's available on it for webcam. I tried it on by using the kopete.I have already searched a topic about it but the browsing has returned with no replies about it. I meant a webcam with a large screen view mainly. I have not find it out neither with the smxi and nor the meta packages scripts. how do I install it by using the konsole? I'd appreciate your hints and clues. best regards.

| The best, for recording and snaphots and with a lot of configuration options, is vlc. |

thanks, blackhole, for the prompt reply. I have noticed vlc is very heavy. when I was using debian etch I set up camorama and it worked at all. someone else told me about camstream. does It also match to the sidux webcams?best regards.

In my case (ricoh camera on a Vaio laptop with uvcvideo driver) camorama and camstream are not working, as all webcam applications that support VideoForLinux and not VideoForLinux2.
Only vlc 0.9.2 (the last version) is working very fine, with the command
Quote:
vlc v4l2:// :v4l2-dev="/dev/video0" :v4l2-chroma="YUYV" :v4l2-width=320 :v4l2-height=240
Remember that Vlc is maybe the best Video player on linux (and Windows!) and it can play files, DVDs, capture video and stream video! |

thanks again for the hints. someone else also recommended me to use the kamera for the kde. I cannot use vlc now because I'm using my sidux in a small hd and I don't have too much spare space. I take it for granted. perhaps in the future, I will reinstall it into another hd and I will try vlc on. best regards. |
