Hi everyone, I'm curious about the possibility to realiz an idea I just had.

I just got an MSI wind and installed sidux 2008-3 almost perfectly (just waiting for the new kernel for having wireless working)

Anyway, as I like to enjoy as much screen space as possible, I setted a tiny kde bar, but I had an Idea more, taken by the interface of ubuntu remix

It would be great to NOT have window decoration when running an application fullscreen, while to keep it when it's not fullscreen.

I wonder if it's possible to do it setting some window rule or tweaking some kde configuration

Here is a mockup of what I mean

I think it would be useful for every netbook and old pc users

Cheers!

You can configure application windows to always open in fullscreen mode without window decoration - but I'd set up a shortcut for fullscreen mode (kcontrol, global shortcuts, Make Window Fullscreen) so that pressing a key gives you your seamless window for any application.

Will pressing f11 while in the app not work? This should expand you to full screen without any tray or taskbar running. Just press f11 again to change back.

If you don't want the taskbar to disappear I'd suggest another solution: instead of defining a keyboard shortcut for Fullscreen define one for Maximize and one for No Border. I'd choose two with the same modifier key close together so that you can make the window seamless with a quick e.g. Win ZX.

For me F11 only works with konqueror, not with other programs, therefore I didn't mention it.
