the current dist-upgrade wants to remove the following packages

Code:
amarok amarok-engine-xine kaffeine libcucul0 libxine1 libxine1-console libxine1-xvdr
and also some of the multimedia packages too...

the issue seems to be the libcucul0 / libcaca0 dependency:
Code:
Die folgenden Pakete haben nicht erfüllte Abhängigkeiten:
  libcucul0: Hängt ab: libcaca0 (>= 0.99.beta15-3) aber 0.99.beta15-2 soll installiert werden

Ah cool, I just logged in to report this error, too. But here it is a little bit harder here when trying to "-d dist-upgrade":

Code:
apt-get  -d dist-upgrade
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Calculating upgrade... Failed
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  libcaca0: Conflicts: libcucul0 (< 0.99.beta15) but 0.99.beta14-1 is to be installed
E: Error, pkgProblemResolver::Resolve generated breaks, this may be caused by held packages.

(and the command has ended)

I do not have any packages on hold. I think I have to wait for a new version of libcaca0.

libcucul0:
Installed: 0.99.beta14-1
Candidate: 0.99.beta15-3
libcaca0:
Installed: 0.99.beta14-1
Candidate: 0.99.beta15-2

Calculating upgrade... Done
The following packages have been kept back:
gcc-3.4-base
The following packages will be upgraded:
bind9-host ceni **multimedia**-keyring debian-reference-common debian-reference-en dhcp3-client dhcp3-common distro-defaults dnsutils
hal kbuild libbind9-40 libcaca0 libcucul0 libdns43 libhal-storage1 libhal1 libisc44 libisccc40 libisccfg40 liblwres40 libpth20
libsnmp-base sidux-irc tzdata
25 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 1 not upgraded.

NO issue here, so either it hasnt hit the US mirror or perhaps its a 64bit issue?

apt-cache policy libcucul0
libcucul0:
Installed: 0.99.beta15-3
Candidate: 0.99.beta15-3

# apt-cache policy libcaca0
libcaca0:
Installed: 0.99.beta15-3
Candidate: 0.99.beta15-3

ah, sorry, I saw this two days ago while setting up a friend, I should have posted a note. 32 bit, only apt-get however had problems with this.

Possibly of relevance: I installed ourea, then did the dist-upgrade, which wanted to remove kaffeine etc, so I didn't use apt-get.

However, I did dist-upgrade today and had no issues, so I'm not sure what triggers that.

This error is solved now. dist-upgrade seems to work again (I just did a "-d" download with which it did occur yesterday).
