Maybe I'm lucky or my use is very simplistic, but vbox works great for me. Just wanted to throw things out there.

Oh I have nothing against V-box and would recommend it to someone if I felt it would fulfill their needs in an instant.
I however would rather not use it as it is a virtual environment and could cause problems if trying to build a package as the package isn't actually "seeing" your hardware but the virtual environment instead.
If you want to play games on XP or just see what another OS looks like, it's great for that.

They don't work in the open source version but they do work in the registered version. I always use the latter version because it's free as well and it has USB support.
