Hi there,
maybe many of you, during Olympiads or holidays, are not constantly monitoring what's happening on da scene.... (and these are are exactly the moments in which bad things usually happen, see the war in Ossetia, for instance) ...well just some dayz ago an Italian judge ordered Italian ISP's to render sites like thep1ratebay unreachable....
I learnt the whole story when I was abroad and, coming back, I noticed that was true.... so, basically, my country is getting down mean and dirty as "democratic" ones like China.....
While this being completely unacceptable (we're not speaking about saving children to the slaughter, but, rather, about making a favour to the rich majors), of course a technical solution was needed and it basically is found in changing the DNS inside either your router or directly in linux to the ones provided by OpenDNS project.
So, in order to do this in sidux, one's gotta use either ceni or copy this resolv.conf file in /etc/
Code:
nameserver 208.67.222.222
nameserver 208.67.220.220
And then, things start back to work, maybe even quicker!
So, considering the current frightening trend (i.e. see France and recent Sarkozy's moves as well), I'm asking the developers whether it wouldn't be nice, in order to grant freedom of speech and full internet availability, to consider (either in ceni or in siduxcc) an OPTION (not default, of course) to automatically configure OpenDNS DNS servers instead if ISP standard ones whenever needed.
Does this make sense?

that option is already present within ceni/sidux but is only made available when you choose static as the method to gather the network config ... |

| x-un-i, in your opinion should the dns-nameserver options be available for DHCP connections too? |

OpenDNS & ORSN are both technically, but also politically very important projects. And Paul Vixie is the right authority to trust when it comes to DNS related stuff.
Greetings,

Yep, this is basically what I had in mind..... but, more, kinda option to offer when configuring interfaces in any (static/dhcp) fashon regardless. |

A little bit off-topic:
If you are in a another country and you aren't able to surf the web via those DNS (I don't know if it may be possible to prevent users to use those DNS), you can use picidae (http://www.picidae.net/). It worked very well for me, so you may give it a try.
