Hi,
does anyone else need dpkg-repack from time to time?
I know i can apt-get it anytime -that is when i have internet access- , but ...
As THE excellent Debian-Live-CD i would welcome dpkg-repack on the sidux-Live-CD.

| dpkg-repack is a bad kludge, neither ensuring package contents integrity (it simply can't, if anything got modified) nor even basic arch information or the like. If it suits your needs, by all means have fun with it (but be aware of the shortcomings!), but it won't get endorsed or included in sidux. |

Not sure if I need it but it sure comes in handy. A tool that works great for the intended purpose(s). |

Seems to me a user focused distro would include things that are useful to its members. Is there a list of 'won't get endorsed or included in sidux' software anywhere? |

| wouldn't dpkg-repack help recreate the debs for a package that you can't find anymore and you need it? |

| right...that's what I mean..if its a package you have installed and no longer available in any repo, you should be able to repack it in case you need to reinstall it if you don't have the original .deb |

| Not something i'd like to encourage as a _default_. People can apt-get the tool. |
