HeliSimRC.exe ver 1.3 - Windows R/C Helicopter Simulator program - NO Sound!
Here is how I got it to work under sidux version 2008-02 with WINE Version 1.0
1. Go to:
http://www.marksfiles.net/HeliSimRC/index.htm
Download SetupHeliSimRC.exe
Save this file in a Subdirectory.
Look around on Mark's website for the USB Controller you will be using, and locate the
proper setup files if someone has already uploaded them That will save lots of time.
2. Assuming that WINE has been previously installed......
Click on HOME -> FOLDER -> FOLDER -> SetupHeliSimRC.exe
until you get to SetupHeliSimRC.exe.
Now move your cursor over the file, Right click, and select OPEN with WINE.
This will install the program for running under WINE.
NOTE:
I didn't check mark the Startup menu box as this puts HeliSimRC in the sidux Menus.
I only have a Icon on the Desktop (Link) to execute HeliSimRC.
3. Plug in the USB Joystick.
Open a Terminal Window and Calibrate the Joystick.
Type the following: (man joystick - can be used to show options from terminal window)
jscal -c /dev/input/js0
(Use the "Enter" key to skip unused axis)
(man joystick - can be used to show options from terminal window)
4. Click on HeliSimRC Icon, and Calibrate the E-Sky Model 66P02 Controller @ $19.99.
Map the Channels to make it fly correct. (Use Keyboard keys "I" & "H" for IU & TH
since controller has no switches)
5. FLY the Heli in sidux 2008-02!
(I did go to Winecfg and choose WinXP as default for HeliSimRC)
Now if it only had Sound!

This simulator is definitely the most unreal crap I have ever seen - not even worth the efforts to calibrate your joystick.
Go and apt-get flightgear, visit the homepage to download additional aircraft and sceneries, and get into real flight simulation. I recommend the S76C, if you can handle that one, you will be able to fly most other helicopters.
By the way, sound works fine with flightgear.
Greetings,
Chris |
