When you start in GRUB write 3. This way you will go directly in CLI (not in xfce). If this is a xfce problem then you will login and add a new user.
I dont use the xfce DE yet but if you have an alternative DE try to login to this. |

No temp but /tmp
Strange... If there is no one /tmp then something really wrong is in your system.
Try to create it and give the permissions i wrote or chmod 777 /tmp
But first have i look for the tmp
in cli write cd /tmp and write what it says... |

1st thank you snvv & slh
The 1777 got me up and running. my next ? is what caused it and is it likely to happen again, is this permanent fix. I use 64bt I don't have the temps problem,I keep the system clean at all times and it was shut-down correct. |

| Bet it looks like the /tmp had the wrong perms, as slh and snvv pointed out...does this happen on every install? if so, there may be a bug somewhere in the installer or that the install packages on the livecd were not quite setup right. |

Deepdayze
Its been installed since the release date in June, and running trouble free until now thats the problem why after all this time it must be after a update although i'd rebooted after several times. I think only time will tell
on this one. |
