The option to disable eth0 and not to enable it during boot via KDE's "Network Settings" in Control Centre doesn't work. This causes an unbearable slowness of the wireless connection. For more information on this bug see my posting here in the Network forum:

I think using the KDE tool influences /etc/network/interfaces in a negative way.
Use ceni to set up your networking and choose the option you want (preferably "allow-hotplug").
