| Had problems with B43 drivers so now I want to install sidux on my Toshiba Satellite a100 laptop which has the Atheros wifi chipset. What's the next step to wake up my card? Thanx! |

1. Use smxi to get the madwifi module up and going
2. Install Ceni and run from root to setup the networking configuration
3. Enjoy
At least that's all I had to do on my older Thinkpad. |

| Sorry for the triplicates - I kept getting an error completion - unable to retrieve message response codes, so I kept retrying. |

Weird. I can retrieve any items, put posting a response always results in the following:
Couldn't get mail server response codes
DEBUG MODE
Line : 116
File : smtp.php |

Where did you find it in smxi? I've looked and looked and can't find anything about wireless drivers...... |

OK, I was wrong.
smxi will faithfully maintain your madwifi setup ONCE INSTALLED.
To get it installed refer to the sidux manual
Internet and Networking -> wpa_supplicant -> Please check this link for ... non-free ...
Follow the instructions there. |

Hehe, that would be a nice experiment in fact - and good test so see how fine apt will solve package conflicts. I would be also very much interested how much time one would spend to do it.
Greetings,

| ok I'm trying the mad wifi install again now. For some reason I'm getting errors and it's not going well or maybe Im too impatient about it. I'll try again. |

Ok I ran it again and rebooted and it is working. This is all because I bought two wireless cards and even though they said "orinoco" they were the newer proxim ones and were actually atheros. so.....Learned two things be patient when installing things on OLD laptops and.....double check the auction stuff. (hey now I know how to get it going though which is a wonderful thing)..... Thanks again |
