Hi all,
I have a fresh install of 2008-02 onto my 2nd drive that boots ok but my login fails. My user name shows ok and I am positive my password is entered exactly the same as it was at installation. Any ideas?. Thanks, cowonjolt

First, check if your CD/DVD has been burnt correctly by booting it with the md5sum option. Check your keyboard layouts (did you choose your language on the LiveCD, which is your native language?). If you have root access, you can change a user's password with passwd <user_name>.

Did you change the keyboard layout after installation? Maybe the keystrokes are not generating the characters that you think they are. Smile

I met the same problem and solved it this way:
first switch to a tty1 pressing <ctrl+alt+F1>, log in as root (note that I have no trouble with my root password, thus I guess it's really a bug instead of concerning keyboard layout.), then issue the command `passwd <my_username>' to change the password of my username, after that switch back to kdm pressing <ctrl>+<alt>+F7 and log in with my new password successfully. Hope it helps.
