The d-u tonight ended with an error 100. Rerun d-u continued and ran part way through with all action messages missing the ending newline. Finally hung at a question to update bash completions - non responsive to keyboard input. Unable to kill any of the processes from an alternate console. Finally had to do the 3-finger salute and reboot.
New invocation of smxi was not successful, of course, need a forced dkkg --config -a. This successfully completed the installation of a boatload of packages, and then smxi could be run again. Successfully returned to init 5.
All appears to be well/stable now. I just wonder what caused all the crap. |

Had a similar experience.
Looked like the servers had a momentary lapse of attention.
While installing, smxi got into a mode where it asked for confirmation,
but would not readln.
Bailed out with Ctrl-Alt-SysReq-R, S, E, I, U, B
and then reran smxi.
Chose to repeat dist-upgrade and followed the instructions,
fixing the things requested along the way.
All is well in my sidux Xfce install. |

| I do confirm this error for 32bit (64bit not tested yet). I had repeated d-u three times an OO was not updated yet (stay in archive on disk) I will wait for some days and try again, probably then it will be fixed. |

Update for smxi a few minutres ago.
Most of the problems I reported are gone, but the actual d-u still has a missing newline after each unpacking, replaced, etc. message. Everything appears in one blob that overflows as terminal width is reached.
Error in apt-get or dpkg? |
