Every time I submit a response tonight, the following error box appears. The response actually appears in the forum, but it's impossible to tell from the results.
Code:
Couldn't get mail server response codes
DEBUG MODE
Line : 116
File : smtp.php

That bug has been around for a long time, with a few others that pop up at frequent intervals, this particular one seems to just happen, then not happen for a while, then start popping up again. I don't think it's traffic, because I saw it the last few days too,and the forums didn't have much load on them, it's just a bug.
Basically, when you see that, your posting got accepted, then the postnuke hacked phpbb puked an error.
If you like this one though, you should really get a kick out of when the forums decide that you've read all the new posts, when you first load the forums in the morning, then mark the thread unread once you post in it, your own posting being the unread one.
But that's life, it's tough mixing two independent software projects like phpbb and postnuke, and it's not going to be pretty under the covers, so you have to expect a bug or two now and then. |

It's a known phpBB bug, related to usage of external SMTP-servers for notifications, coming up when those servers are not accessible temporarily. It is already fixed in phpBB3, and will therefore vanish with the upcoming next version of PNphpBB. There is no reason for bashing PNphpBB here.
By the way, as Postnuke changed it's name to Zikula recently, we have decided to change PNphpBB's name, too: It's Zafenio now. A new support site will be set up at http://zafenio.com, and we have moved all development to the "Cozi", Zikula's Trac based development server at http://code/zikula.org/zafenio - feel free to file bug reports/feature requests there.
Greetings,
Chris |
