Did a DU yesterday and now when I try to start my virtual machine in VirtualBox OSE I get an error that says:
Quote:
The VirtualBox support driver which is running is from a different version of VirtualBox. You can correct this by stopping all instances of VirtualBox and reinstalling the software..
VBox status code: -1912
(VERR_VM_DRIVER_VERSION_MISMATCH).
Result Code: 0x800004005
Anyone have a workaround? FWIW, snapshots were discarded already and this is on AMD64. |

| I always use the virtual machine menu in smxi and run install, build module and install addons, whenever I upgrade kernel or virtualbox software. It seems to keep everything straight for me! |

But unfortunately not for me. I did a d-u, but afterwards vbox (ose) did not work.
The Message:
VBox status code: -1912 (VERR_VM_DRIVER_VERSION_MISMATCH)
it seems to be the same issue.
EDIT:
dpkg -l | grep virtualbox
ii virtualbox-ose 1.6.2-dfsg-1 x86 virtualization solution - binaries
ii virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.25-4.slh.2-sidux-amd64 2.6.25.rev18+1.5.6-dfsg-4 PC virtualization solution modules for Linux
ii virtualbox-ose-modules-2.6.25-4.slh.8-sidux-amd64 2.6.25.rev25+1.5.6-dfsg-1 PC virtualization solution modules for Linux
ii virtualbox-ose-source
Sorry, there are no new modules
I'll install and try it again
EDIT2:
Damned! I have to install a new Kernel! |

I think if you use the vbox module builder option in smxi/svmi it will first look for the module, then if it doesn't find it, it will build it, so you don't have to install a new kernel I think.
By the way, svmi, the smxi vm module, does not need to be run in init 3 or out of x/kde, just open a root konsole, then type: svmi
and you see all the same options there.
That's what I always use. |
