I attempted to install virtualbox-non-ose using the smxi script. During the install the OSE modules were removed, the non-ose version was downloaded, but then the script exited with the following message:
ERROR (191) The deb package virtualbox_1.5.6-28266_Debian_etch_i386.deb failed to install correctly
Anyone have any ideas why I might be getting this error? I am using 32 bit sidux on my AMD64 bit hardware if that makes any difference. Thanks. |

| You'll have to update to 1.6.2, that 1.5.6 version is not going to work. |

| ok so in order to install 1.6.2 do I need to download the binary from the virtualbox website? If so, should I choose the Debian 4.0 binary? I have only the default repos on my system. My guess is that I can also add a different repository that contains 1.6.2 version in order for the smxi script to work correctly. I have only the default repos on my system. If so, which repository? Thanks. |

Yes you do (have to install the downloaded binary deb), because of a temporary export (as in legal, not shell scripting) restriction, sun is unable to put vbox non-ose for universal download yet, but that is being resolved and the current vbox non-ose will then once again be installable via script.
Hopefully this situation will resolve. |
