wOOT! Awesome job, downloading now can't wait to install it over my screwed up etch install.
If I am reading correctly,it isn't recommended to update over an existing install.

Is this correct team?
edit;
It might be a great idea to "pimp" sidux now to various sites for reviews, write ups, discussion, blogs and podcasts to get some exposure.
I wouldn't mind haveing a nice review of the preview on a major site.
I know one of the hosts from "The Tech Show" uses Kanotix,I will see if I can send an email about sidux to him. |

Dear sidux Great Team,
I would like to express my big congratulation to all developers and members makes sidux 2007-01 preview 1 a reality.
Especially the Greek word (Χάος) chaos was a big surprise to me (I am a Greek guy so I enjoyed it).
I feel that probably Chris has something to do with the selection of this word
Best Regards,
Mike Kranidis |

| I will test the preview release into a vmware session... and maybe make some preview release docs. |

Best to format then install the preview, so that you won't have any surprises |

| I tried it, but my Atheros chipset is not recognised, as lots of commands like "ifconfig" "iwconfig"... |

knithx: Seems that the wireless-tools package is missing from the preview. If you can, hook up the machine to an ethernet connection and then as root in a terminal:
Code:
apt-get install wireless-tools
Then you should be able to configure the wireless card. |

DeepDayze: I can't hook up my machine to an ethernet. It is weird, because iwconfig and ifconfig were present in when I was running LiveCD.
Would that "recognise" my wireless card? Because my Atheros card is shown in lspci. |

knithx,
you need to do:
Code:
m-a a-i madwifi
to build the module.
it is not included in sidux for licencing reasons.

| I must say that I'm impressed over the fast bootup in preview, much faster than my old upgraded Kanotix system. Is thsis because it's a small not ready distriution or is it going to be that fast (hope so)? |

Tried the new opensuse-10.2-LiveDVD. Could not find it's CD 1 and stopped booting at the Toshiba. Totally weird. Lot's of "fatal ... cannot find module ..." oops before that as well.
Just have to say that in comparison to the perfect booting of sidux.

another question: will there be such a "lite version", for those who don't need all the programmes already installed, also in the final?
I'd like that, because it would make the choice on what I want to have on my system much easier.
But I don't think of the Lite-Version there was with Kanotix.. where you didn't have KDE... |
