I created a sidux liveusb-creator fork,
based on the very good work from Luke Macken, Kushal Das (Red Hat/Fedora)
Luke and Kushal thank you very much!

Quote:
The liveusb-creator is a cross-platform tool for easily installing live operating systems on to USB flash drives.
Features
* Completely non-destructive install. There is no need to deal with formatting or partitioning your USB key.
* Supports downloading various sidux releases, including sidux 2008-02 preview 1!
* Automatically detects all of your removable devices
* Persistent storage creation. This lets you to allocate extra space on your USB stick, allowing you to save files and make modifications to your live operating system that will persist after you reboot. This essentially lets you carry your own personalized sidux with you at all times. (Note: only works with sidux)
Windows
* Windows executable and source:

apt-get update && apt-get install liveusb-creator

Dear hjt,
accept my congratulations for your very helpful sidux liveusb-creator for Windows XP.
These is always a nice way to introduce linux gnu (and sidux) to the people...
P.S. Is there any equivalent linux version (worth to have it)?
Best Regards,
Mike Kranidis |

I've used the Fedora liveusb-creator on one of our Windows XP school systems one time and it worked perfectly, I will give this one a try, too, after finishing the download of 2008-02 pre 1.
#edit:
Very old and slow USB device.
Installation time: 1.50mins
Rocks! |

| Will there be a way to add applications to the installation? I'd love to use a usb device to run a live environment on a box without internet access - but it must contain amarok and kirocker. And alas in sidux lite even amarok seems to have gone. |

From the manual fromiso-persist and in the screenshot you can see that you should be able to setup the persist feature from this new win installer (and probably with the regular linux usb installer come the next preview). So once you can boot the usb stick once on a machine with net access you can apt-get away (as long as your persist has enough space) to add whatever you want. |
