you may experience either very slow smxi performance, or failed smxi.
this is because a central US data trunk line run by global crossing is failing, this is expected to be fixed in a few hours at worst.

It's a good thing that trunk line is there -- it will be the only thing keeping California attached to the rest of the country when the Big One hits! Otherwise we would end up floating down to Hawaii...
Oh wait, let it fail...
