I don't know nano, so i can't vote pro or con. But what I don't understand is why it is so important whether a packet comes with the release or not. It is pretty easy to install nano, or mcedit or whatever after the first apt-get update is done.

P.S. Being curious now, I'm going to install nano now.

That is assuming that all your networking is up & you did not have to edit anything before hand, via an editor Smile

It's a moot point really, vi, nano, etal. I prefer nano simply because I am used to it now, & can edit basic scripts quickly with it. But Vi is a very fine editor geared more towards the "Power User". I used to use it years ago on the Amiga & it was an invaluable tool for programming & has only got better.

It's also easy to install totem instead of kaffeine. But in the live cd (that you may need to use without internet connection) there is kaffeine and most people probably won't be happy with totem instead of kaffeine. So I was wondering if people prefers nano or mcedit Wink

I have used pico/nano a long time myself before I discovered the ease with vim. So yes, I vote for adding it to the cd. Though a real beginner might prefer mcedit.

Nano is always one of the first things I'm using when I first install a distro and I was suprised it wasn't there with sidux.
The only other console text editor I know how to use is vi and that's just plain wierd.
I'm sure whever created it made up the keyboard commands as a joke and forgot to change them.
