I can play videos in Iceweasel, but not in Opera.

Videos from : Yahoo, Youtube, NYTIMES, BBC.

What do I have to do to install video plugins for Opera?

you have to install opera 9.50 beta to play flash videos with opera and the newest flash release.

or better use the latest snapshot:
http://snapshot.opera.com/unix/snapshot ... t_i386.deb

works perfect for me.

If you are talking about other, non-flash movie files, opera has had a long running problem with *player plugin.
The problem being that it don't work. I understand you need a patched opera to get it to work.
Don't know if this has changed very recently but it's one of the reasons I don't use opera.

Wow indeed, I tried the deb for myself and can confirm videos and flash are both working (though a couple of the videos I tried wouldn't play in opera but were playing fine in iceweasel).

Now if I can find a way to sort out the dodgy fonts (tiny and not in keeping with rest of system fonts) and get it to use my qtcurve theme properly (doesn't follow the colour scheme) I will start properly testing it as an iceweasel replacement.

<EDIT>
Figured out the fonts thing and sorry if I seemed to hijack the thread. Well I'm another step nearer to switching to opera now.

Well I noticed with the previously posted deb, pages take ages to start loading.
Once they do start everything is instant but the progress bar stays at 0% for several seconds before anything happens.
Just tried an update and it does the same thing.

Just installed the Opera 9.5 beta 2 and now I don't get any images on certain sites. How do I correct it?

Yahoo works but Huffington post doesn't show images, why?

I'll stick with Iceweasel. I can only use one browser at a time anyway!
