The default country in kde on nyx is set to some weird country with a purple flag with a C in it. I'm sure thats good for two people, but the rest of would prefer the US or German defaults.

Is this a bug that could be fixed or not? Right now it affects just the clock applet's appearance and thats pretty much it from my prodding around. The fix is just changing the default which is point obvious.

The C means default or unset locale. If you fix the locale for the C-Type, you'll get the chance to set it to a different entry. It's just setting up a locale afaik, dpkg-reconfigure locales may do that but I believe smxi has that option too. Type locale on a terminal to see the current settings.

Edit: I should read a bit better. You're right, setting it to default is a bit odd, although US or Germany as defaults may be wrong for more than 2 people. Wink

What is not obvious is what point at which the locale is not as you would expect it to be; during live-boot or post-install.

This is on a post install, i'll check it out when I get home later today. The locale is probably still the same on the livecd since the installer just copies the profile over right?

No, there is a small amount of voodoo happening at install time too.

When in live mode, please attach /etc/default/fll-locales here to help too.

I guess C is KDE's default. I have seen it being used for new users in other distributions too using the same KDE version. I don't consider it to be a bug cause you can easily alter the settings. To me C looks like a good choice, especially because of the posix like file sorting.
