Hello Everyone:
Before, I ask my question, I want to give kudos to the developers. It's now really quick to download images. I've done this several times from the Tennessee site, and it's great!
I am obviously missing something basic in my questions below.
The idea is to burn a DVD because I want the 1.5 Gbyte sidux-2008-02-erebos-kde-full-i386-amd64-200806251839.iso version.
I successfully burned a lite version of sidux CD version but not the DVD version
I have read the manual about giving the warnings about how to burn the DVD.
1) First I tried the trusty K3b which always works for me. As I said above, I could get the lite version for CD. But for the DVD version, K3b comes up with very few options. There is no ability to write "DAO", and I couldn't set the speed. But, I went ahead anyway.
It seemed to work by writing something on the DVD. But, it wouldn't boot on any machine.
2) Then, I turned to mkisofs
Here are my commands (on a sidux box)
mount -t iso9660 -o rw /dev/dvdrw /media/dvdrw (One could also use /dev/dvd.)
grow -Z /dev/dvdrw sidux-2008-02-erebos-kde-full-i386-amd64-200806251839.iso
This also seemed to work, but it also wouln't boot on any machine.
I looked at the CD version I burned which boots nicely, and it seems to have directorie on there.
I can't view the DVD version at all? Why? Should it have a structure similar to the CD version?
I know I am missing something here. Somehow, I thought that even the CD version should have just one big xxxx.iso file. How did it get these directories there when I burned the CD from the iso image I downloaded. How should the DVD version look?

PS. I would gladly pay for a DVD version, if I didn't have to go through PayPal. Can't you set something up with Visa?

As a displaced native New Yorker I feel I can get to the point. K3b has a "Burn DVD ISO image" function. Select it, paste, drop, drag, whatever the downloaded sidux iso to it. Wait awhile. All done. That did it! It's works great!

I wasn't sure. I guess I expected to see one monolith file ... not a directory structure.
Finally, how could you ... how could you .... how could you leave NYC where we have culture and tradition ... and ... assumable mortgages. Where's the loyalty?
And yes,you will see folders and such in the iso. What did you expect to see?
