It has been a turbulent week behind the scenes of Debian sid, with an accidental glibc upload, a broken openssl version (#449200) affecting wpasupplicant and ries.debian.org (ftp-master) breaking down due to filesystem problems. Nevertheless it is time to continue the preview season with our second preview heading towards our fourth sidux release "Ερως", concentrating on further X.org 7.3/ xrandr 1.2 and X detection testing and finalizing the driver selection for various wlan cards (please report any issues here). As usual the previews are shipping only as a small (≈460 MB), but fully functional, KDE-lite flavour, to ease up testing and xdelta uploads and will be accompanied by ≈700 MB KDE-full variants for the final release.

sidux is a full featured Debian sid based live CD with a special focus on hard disk installations, a clean upgrade path within sid and additional hard- and software support. The ISO is completely based on Debian sid, enriched and stabilized with sidux' own packages and scripts.

After quite some delays from our planned schedule, due to X.org 7.3 related issues of varying severity, sidux 2007-04 "Ερως" is now ready to enter the preview season for amd64 and i686 systems. As usual the previews are shipping only as a small (≈460 MB), but fully functional, KDE-lite flavour, to ease up testing and xdelta uploads and will be accompanied by ≈700 MB KDE-full variants for the final release.

The sidux Operating System manual in French -fr with LjanA at the helm as translator and maintainer hits the sidux site, and barely a week after ceti sent the manual in Portuguese-Brazil pt-br 'live'

Following hard on the heels of the meta-manual going 'live',
the sidux Operating System manual in Portuguese-Brazil pt-br goes 'live' with ceti as the translator and maintainer

ceti started to work to translate the manual to Portuguese-br 6 weeks ago, and on his own.and has translated 75% of the manual, which consists of 39 files in total (to date) and if printed would run to 230 +pages per translation,

ceti, considering you had a 2 week vacation in the middle of the translating cycle, you have completed an incredible amount of work in a short time!

All pt-br and also -pt speakers and your country should be very, very impressed and proud of you.

Congratulations on a job done exceedingly well done.

sidux now has more mirrors for better access to the ISOs, kernels and the debian repository. Please use the closest mirror. If anyone can provide additional download mirrors, especially in the south america and the pacific region, it would be appreciated. Please contact us if you're able to provide a mirror capable of enduring heavy volume ISO downloads.

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT: sidux, as a Linux LIVE-CD, is based on high compression technology, and because of that, special care is needed when burning the ISO image. Only use high quality CD-media [or DVD+RW] and burn in DAO-mode (disk-at-once) and not faster than x8.
